Tehran: Iran has turned a Tehran billboard into a political spectacle, placing a life-sized Donald Trump impersonator inside a mock prison cell to condemn a deadly strike that reportedly hit a wedding in southern Iran.

The installation has drawn public attention as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high, with the incident becoming the centrepiece of a wider campaign targeting US military actions. The striking display combines political satire, visual messaging and wartime propaganda, using a public space to amplify Iran’s criticism of the United States.

Trump Impersonator Locked Inside a Mock Prison Cell

The installation stands above Tajrish Square, one of Tehran’s busiest transport and public gathering hubs. It features an actor wearing a mask and wig resembling US President Donald Trump, positioned inside a cage designed to look like a prison cell.

The mock cell is furnished with a bed, toilet and sink. In scenes that have attracted the attention of passersby, the impersonator can be seen rattling the bars and lying down to sleep, turning the billboard into a theatrical display of political ridicule.

People have reportedly gathered around the installation to watch and record the performance on their mobile phones, helping the imagery circulate beyond the immediate location.

An electronic screen behind the cage displays images associated with a US strike that reportedly hit a wedding in Kuhestak, a town in southern Iran, last month. Crime-scene visuals form part of the installation’s wider message, presenting the incident as a symbol of civilian suffering and accountability.

Tehran Launches 15-Day Campaign Over Wedding Strike

According to Iranian state media, Tehran’s Beautification Organization, which operates under the city municipality, unveiled the installation on Tuesday. The display appears to be part of a 15-day public campaign focused on the reported wedding strike.

The campaign uses large-scale outdoor advertising as a tool of political communication, combining provocative imagery with a message intended to influence public perception of Washington’s military conduct.

Iran has increasingly used public billboards to deliver political messages against the United States. An earlier installation reportedly depicted Trump lying inside a coffin covered with graffiti, while Iranian authorities and pro-government supporters have also circulated memes and videos ridiculing the US president and his administration during the conflict. The latest display follows the same pattern, using symbolism and satire to portray Trump as deserving of punishment over the reported civilian casualties.

What the US Has Said About the Incident

The wedding strike has become a focal point of Iran’s campaign against Washington. US Central Command has said it was aware of Iranian reports about the incident while maintaining that American forces do not target civilians.

The competing messages underline the wider dispute over the circumstances and consequences of the reported strike. While Tehran is using the incident to demand accountability through public messaging, the US military’s stated position rejects the deliberate targeting of civilians.

The available information does not establish an independent finding of responsibility for the reported wedding casualties. The imagery displayed in Tehran therefore reflects the Iranian campaign’s allegations and political position rather than, by itself, a verified determination of the circumstances surrounding the strike.

Iran-US Tensions Keep Political Messaging in the Spotlight

The billboard comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States following US and Israeli attacks on Iran in February, according to the report. The confrontation has extended beyond military developments into public diplomacy, information campaigns and online messaging.

In this environment, high-visibility installations can serve several purposes: reinforcing domestic narratives, expressing anger over civilian harm and attracting international attention through viral visuals. Tehran’s latest display is designed to turn a contested military incident into a widely visible political statement.

Its theatrical presentation also reflects the growing role of visual propaganda in modern conflicts, where billboards, short videos and social media posts can rapidly become part of the wider information battle.

For now, the installation offers a vivid snapshot of the hostility between Tehran and Washington. Its central message is unmistakable: Iran is using the reported wedding strike to intensify its public criticism of Trump and demand accountability, while the US military maintains that civilians are not deliberate targets.
