Washington: US President Donald Trump has indicated that the ongoing conflict with Iran could come to an end if Tehran agrees to Washington’s conditions, while also warning of intensified military action if negotiations fail.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said that the US military campaign, referred to as “Operation Epic Fury,” would be halted if Iran accepts the proposed terms. However, he cautioned that such an outcome remains uncertain, describing Iran’s agreement as a “big assumption.”

He added that if a deal is reached, the naval blockade imposed during the conflict would be lifted, allowing free movement through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Trump made it clear that failure to reach an agreement would lead to renewed military action. He warned that any further strikes would be carried out at a significantly higher level of intensity than previous operations.
The statement underscores a dual-track approach by the US administration—offering a path to de-escalation while keeping the option of force firmly on the table.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route, has been at the centre of the conflict. Trump noted that reopening the waterway to all nations, including Iran, would be a key outcome of any agreement.
Ensuring uninterrupted passage through the strait is vital for global energy supplies and regional stability, making it a major focus of ongoing negotiations.

Reports suggest that the United States and Iran are moving closer to a preliminary understanding, possibly in the form of a short framework agreement. This initial step could pave the way for broader negotiations, particularly on Iran’s nuclear programme.
Earlier, Trump had also announced a temporary pause in another initiative aimed at ensuring free navigation in the region, indicating that diplomatic channels remain active.
