New Delhi: foreign minister S. Jaishankar raised key concerns of the Global South, including energy availability, fertilizer shortages, and food security, during the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in France on March 26–27.

Addressing a session at the high-level meeting, Jaishankar highlighted the growing uncertainties triggered by the ongoing tensions in West Asia and stressed the need for building more resilient trade corridors and supply chains to ensure global stability.

The External Affairs Minister also underlined the urgency of reforms in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), calling for a more representative global governance structure. He further advocated for streamlining peacekeeping operations and strengthening humanitarian supply chains to effectively respond to global crises.

On the sidelines of the G7 meeting, Jaishankar held bilateral discussions with his counterparts from several countries, including France, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ukraine.

Providing details, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, said that India continues to actively engage with global partners on pressing international issues.

“Our conversations with global partners continue. The External Affairs Minister is currently in France for the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting. On the sidelines, he met his counterparts from multiple nations,” Jaiswal stated.

Jaishankar’s participation underscores India’s increasing role in voicing the concerns of developing nations and shaping global discourse on critical issues such as supply chain resilience and economic stability.
