Beijing: Iran has reiterated its demand for a “fair and comprehensive” agreement to resolve the ongoing conflict in West Asia, as its Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held high-level talks with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday.

Iran’s Clear Stand on Peace Deal

During the meeting, Araghchi emphasised that Tehran is committed to pursuing a balanced and just resolution while safeguarding its national interests. He stated that Iran would not accept any agreement that falls short of being both fair and comprehensive.

Describing the current conflict as an act of aggression, the Iranian minister stressed that any negotiations must recognise Iran’s rights under international law. He also highlighted the importance of diplomacy in addressing escalating tensions in the region.

China Calls for Immediate Ceasefire

China, for its part, emphasised the urgency of halting hostilities. Wang Yi called for a complete ceasefire, describing it as both necessary and inevitable given the deteriorating situation in West Asia.

He underscored the importance of dialogue between all parties involved, noting that the region is at a critical juncture. China also reaffirmed its willingness to play a constructive role in easing tensions and promoting peace.

Strengthening Strategic Ties

Araghchi praised China’s stance on the conflict, particularly its criticism of actions by the United States and Israel. He described Beijing as a reliable partner and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would deepen amid current geopolitical challenges.

The talks also reflected broader strategic coordination between the two countries, as both sides exchanged views on regional stability and global security concerns.

Part of Wider Diplomatic Outreach

The Beijing meeting is part of Iran’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to build international support. Araghchi’s visit to China follows stops in Pakistan, Oman and Russia, where he held discussions with key leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In Oman, the focus was on maritime security, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy supplies. Iran has stressed the need for cooperation to ensure safe navigation through the waterway.
