PM Modi Gets Uzbekistan’s Highest Honour ‘Oliy Darajali Do‘Stlik’ (Img: X)
Tashkent: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received one of the highest recognitions of his diplomatic journey as Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev conferred him with the country’s supreme state honour, the Order of Oliy Darajali Do‘stlik, during his two-day visit to Tashkent.
The award, which translates to “High-Level Friendship”, was presented to PM Modi in recognition of his contribution towards strengthening the longstanding relationship between India and Uzbekistan.
Accepting the honour, Prime Minister Modi described it as a moment of great pride and dedicated the award to the people of India and the historic friendship between the two nations.
Expressing gratitude, PM Modi highlighted the meaning of the word “Do‘stlik”, which means friendship, and connected it with India’s own cultural vocabulary.
"There is hardly a family in our country that does not use the word Dost (friend) a hundred times a day. Today, you have truly embodied the essence of Dostlik," PM Modi said.
He added that the award was not an honour for an individual but for all 1.4 billion Indians.
The Prime Minister thanked the people of Uzbekistan, President Mirziyoyev and the Uzbek government for the recognition.
During his address, PM Modi said that India and Uzbekistan’s relationship has continued to grow under President Mirziyoyev’s leadership.
He noted that bilateral ties have now reached the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting expanding cooperation in areas including trade, clean energy, connectivity, defence and technology. PM Modi said the award also comes with a responsibility to further strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
PM Modi arrived in Tashkent on Saturday for a two-day visit aimed at expanding cooperation between India and Uzbekistan.
The discussions between the two leaders are expected to focus on strengthening economic ties, boosting trade, improving connectivity and exploring new opportunities in clean energy. The visit comes as both countries look to deepen their partnership and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
India and Uzbekistan share deep historical and cultural connections dating back centuries. From ancient trade routes to shared traditions, the two nations have maintained close people-to-people ties.
PM Modi said both countries would continue working together as a united voice for the Global South and contribute towards global peace and development.
