Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin at the tarmac of Air Force Station Palam on December 4, 2025, greeting him with a warm handshake and hug.

After arrival, Putin travelled with Modi in the same car, a white SUV, to the Prime Minister’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. That evening, Modi hosted a private dinner for Putin, signalling a personal warmth and camaraderie as much as diplomatic respect.
As a symbolic gesture during the visit, PM Modi presented Putin a copy of the Bhagavad Gita translated into Russian, highlighting the cultural and spiritual dimension of India–Russia ties.
On the morning of December 5, Putin visited Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, signing the visitors’ book and leaving a note about Gandhi’s enduring legacy.
Later on December 5, Putin received a formal ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu greeted him alongside senior dignitaries.
The two leaders met at Hyderabad House for the 23rd India-Russia Summit to discuss deepening economic cooperation, mainly in defence, energy and the mobility of skilled labour.
PM Modi-Putin Press Meet: During the joint press conference, PM Modi said that both India and Russia had agreed on an economic cooperation programme extending till 2030, reflecting long-term strategic alignment.
