Washington: US President Donald Trump has once again asserted that the United States controls the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, intensifying his rhetoric amid continuing tensions with Iran. Trump said the waterway belongs to the United States and its Navy, while defending the ongoing American naval blockade.
Speaking to reporters, Trump indicated that Iranian ships attempting to bypass the US blockade could face military action. He suggested that American forces would prevent vessels carrying oil from crossing the area and warned that ships attempting to challenge the blockade could be targeted.

Trump also said the conflict with Iran would ultimately end, but left open the possibility of either a negotiated settlement or a tougher military approach.
The Strait of Hormuz has emerged as one of the biggest flashpoints in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran. The narrow waterway connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and serves as a crucial route for international oil and gas shipments.
The US has maintained a naval presence in the region and has sought to control commercial movement through the strait. Washington has repeatedly claimed that its forces have established effective control over the waterway.
Iran, however, continues to reject Washington's claims and has maintained its own position over the passage. The standoff has raised concerns over global energy supplies and the security of commercial shipping.
Trump also claimed that oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have recovered significantly, saying that the flow of crude has reached levels comparable to, and at times exceeding, those seen before the conflict.
