Tarique Rahman lands in Dhaka after 17-year exile
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived at the Sylhet airport here in Dhaka on Thursday after more than 17 years of self-exile in the London.
Tarique Rahman is the elder son of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and former President Ziaur Rahman. His arrival may give a new twist to the Country's politics as he is considered the Party’s principal face of the upcoming Parliamentary Polls in February next year.
As soon as Tarique Rahman landed at the airport, thousands of Leaders and woekers from all over the country raised slogans in his support and extended a warm welcome to him. The supporters have gathered there since morning to be a witness of this extraordinary moment in the political history of the country.
His return carries a significant weight after the ousting of the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last year during the July Agitation.
