Warrior dividend to honour service and sacrifice.
Washington: US President Donald Trump announced a special cash payment for American military personnel, linking the amount to the year 1776 to honour the country’s founding. Described as a “warrior dividend,” the one-time payout of USD 1,776 is aimed at recognising the dedication and sacrifices of the nation’s armed forces. The announcement came ahead of Christmas, signalling a gesture of appreciation for those serving in uniform.
The cash package will be provided to active duty service members in pay grades O 6 and below who are serving as of November 30, 2025. Members of the reserve component who are on active duty orders of 31 days or more as of the same date are also eligible. In total, over 1.45 million troops are expected to receive the payment, which is being processed and sent via direct deposit and cheques.

Trump cited higher revenue from tariffs along with recently passed federal spending legislation as enabling factors for the payout. In his address, Trump also reiterated his claims of ending eight global conflicts in his term, asserting that the United States had neutralised Iran’s nuclear capabilities through targeted air strikes. He further claimed credit for restoring peace in Gaza, stating that Hamas returned both living and deceased hostages following US intervention.
Trump discussed his administration’s approach towards illegal immigration, claiming that zero illegal immigrants have entered the United States during his second term so far. He framed this as a historic achievement, crediting immediate actions taken from day one of his administration to secure the southern border.
The warrior dividend has drawn attention for both its symbolic and practical impact. By linking the payout to the year 1776, Trump emphasised patriotism while providing a tangible benefit for active service members. The announcement is expected to boost morale among troops during the holiday season and highlight the administration’s focus on military recognition.
