Trump sends second warship to Middle East amid tensions with Iran

The USS Abraham Lincoln and three missile destroyers arrived in the Middle East two weeks ago. This is a sudden change for the USS Ford. Last October, Trump sent it from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean. At that time, a large military presence was being prepared there to apprehend then-Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro.

Waashington DC: President Donald Trump has ordered the world's largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, to be moved from the Caribbean Sea to the Middle East. This will be America's second largest aircraft carrier to be deployed in the Middle East, alongside the USS Abraham Lincoln.

Pressure On Iran

This news was first reported by The New York Times. Following Trump's decision, two large US aircraft carriers and accompanying warships will now be in the Middle East. The Trump administration aims to exert pressure on Iran's nuclear program through this move. The person familiar with the military activities shared these details on the condition of anonymity.

The Abraham Lincoln Warship Already Deployed

The USS Abraham Lincoln and three missile destroyers arrived in the Middle East two weeks ago. This is a sudden change for the USS Ford. Last October, Trump sent it from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean. At that time, a large military presence was being prepared there to apprehend then-Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro.

This move appears to be a departure from Trump's security strategy, which emphasized a greater focus on the Western Hemisphere rather than other parts of the world. Earlier this week, Trump told Axios that he was considering sending another warship to the Middle East.

The White House has not yet commented on the matter.
