Kyiv: Ukraine has received a new shipment of US-made Patriot air defense systems. Zelensky stated that these systems will help protect civilians and vital infrastructure across the country from Russia's ongoing airstrikes. Zelensky confirmed this on social media late Sunday night. This defense system is considered Ukraine's most effective shield against Russian missile and drone attacks.

The Patriot air defense system is America's most advanced anti-missile technology, capable of deterring deadly Russian attacks. Zelensky had long sought this system from Western countries, but its delivery was delayed due to production limitations and the countries' own military needs. Now, these systems have been deployed to enhance the security of major cities and energy infrastructure.

German Aid
President Zelensky thanked Germany and its Chancellor Friedrich Merz, saying that Germany had promised to deliver two additional Patriot systems to Ukraine three months ago, which has now been fulfilled. Germany has received assurances from the United States that the supply of new Patriot systems for its military needs will be prioritized. These defense systems are manufactured entirely in the United States.

New Russian Attacks
Meanwhile, Russia fired 12 missiles and 138 drones at Ukraine from Sunday to Monday night. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, many missiles were destroyed, but some caused damage. A Russian drone attack on a house in the northeastern Sumy region killed one person and injured five members of his family, including two children. Regional head Oleh Grigorov said Russia deliberately targeted people sleeping at night.

Damage in Several Areas
A Russian missile strike in the Dnipro region of central Ukraine set a business establishment on fire, injuring one person. Russian drones also damaged energy infrastructure in the southern Mykolaiv region. NATO continues to coordinate arms supplies to Ukraine, while European countries and Canada are assisting by purchasing American weapons. Current US President Trump has decided not to supply arms to Ukraine, while the previous Biden administration continued to provide military aid.
