Abu Dhabi: At least 12 people were injured in Abu Dhabi after debris from intercepted Iranian missiles fell in a residential area on Friday. According to UAE authorities, the injured include five Indian nationals, six Nepali citizens, and one additional individual.

Officials stated that most injuries ranged from minor to moderate, while one Nepali national sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred in the Ajban area following the successful interception of missiles by the UAE’s air defence systems.

Authorities Urge Caution Against Rumours

In an official statement, the Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed the details and urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation regarding the incident. Authorities emphasised that verified updates would be shared through official channels only, as emergency teams responded promptly to the site.

Habshan Gas Facility Targeted

Earlier the same day, UAE officials confirmed that Iran had launched an attack targeting the Habshan gas facility. The strike was successfully neutralised by air defence systems, preventing casualties.

However, operations at the facility were temporarily suspended as a precaution, and emergency services were deployed. The Habshan complex, operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, is among the largest gas processing sites globally, with a capacity of approximately 6.1 billion cubic feet per day.

Recent Fatal Incident Raises Concern

The latest development comes weeks after a similar episode in which two Indian nationals lost their lives due to falling debris from intercepted missiles. The Indian government had expressed condolences and coordinated with UAE authorities for the repatriation of the victims’ remains.

The recurrence of such incidents has raised concerns about the safety of civilians in the region amid intensifying geopolitical tensions.

Regional Tensions Continue to Escalate

The UAE has strongly condemned the attacks, accusing Iran of targeting civilian infrastructure in recent strikes. These developments come amid heightened tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

While Iran has issued apologies for some regional strikes, it has also reiterated its intent to target American and Israeli assets, further escalating concerns over stability in the Middle East.
