Singapore: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu spent an hectic day in Singapore on Tuesday, seeking investments and strategic partnerships for the state's development. During his visit, he met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

Chief Minister Naidu held a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation in advanced technology, higher education, urban governance, infrastructure development and international connectivity.

Naidu Pushes For Tech And Investment Partnerships

During interactions with CEOs and members of the Indian diaspora, Naidu sought Singapore’s support in building a semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. He also requested collaboration in capacity building, research and innovation in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies.

A key highlight of the visit was Naidu’s meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the latter’s official residence. He also held discussions with Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on enhancing strategic partnerships and improving air connectivity between Singapore and Andhra Pradesh.

Trade, Education And Connectivity In Focus

Participating in a seminar, Naidu highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s initiatives in natural farming and invited Singapore to explore imports of horticulture and aquaculture products from the state. He also emphasised the opportunities arising from Andhra Pradesh’s growing network of ports, airports and logistics infrastructure to boost trade and investment flows.

Naidu later visited the National University of Singapore and proposed the establishment of an international campus in Andhra Pradesh. He invited the university to collaborate with the state in developing a Centre of Excellence under the proposed Quantum Valley initiative in Amaravati.

Google Pact And Quantum Valley Get Momentum

Naidu’s visit was primarily aimed at attracting investors and exploring new areas of cooperation. He showcased Andhra Pradesh’s strengths in manufacturing, services, skilled workforce, green energy, green hydrogen and logistics infrastructure. He also highlighted the emergence of Visakhapatnam as a data centre hub and Amaravati as a future destination for technology and innovation.

One of the key outcomes of the visit was an agreement between the Andhra Pradesh government and Google to establish a special task force to explore cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing and digital governance. Naidu held detailed discussions with Google Asia-Pacific President Karan Bajwa on potential collaborations.
