J&K: ‘Darbar Move’ tradition restored; CM Omar Abdullah calls it a boost to UT’s Economy

Srinagar: On the restoration of the 'Darbar Move' tradition, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the restoration of the 'Darbar Move' tradition will further boost the economy of the Union Territory, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The ‘Darbar Move’ tradition was deferred four years ago. It was restored on Monday in the presence of CM Omar Abdullah.

The Chief Minister said that it was a setback when the tradidtion of Darbar move was discontinued four years ago.

While talking to media CM Abdullah said, "Jammu had received a major setback when the Darbar Move was discontinued. It was also our responsibility, and we had promised the public that we would restore the Darbar Move. Today, the Darbar Move has been restored. I hope that this will give a significant boost to the economy of Jammu and Kashmir."

The Chief Minister said that the Darbar Move was also a emotional connect between the prople of Jummu and Srinagar.

"Some things hold emotional significance... The Darbar Move, which connects Srinagar and Jammu, was the biggest way to do so, and by stopping it, had dealt a blow to the unity of Jammu and Kashmir, which we have tried to rectify," Abdullah added. National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah also expressed happiness over the move, noting that those who sought to separate Jammu and Srinagar have failed."Those who wanted to keep us apart have failed. Today we are together. Jammu and Kashmir are together," he told reporters.
