Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) is kickstarting the Kashmir leg of its political movement 'Humari Riyasat Humara Haq' from Kulgam district today, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

This campaign is aimed for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. This movement has already completed its first phase in the Jammu region.

A Congress spokesperson said that J&K Congress President Tariq Karra and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and AICC general secretary GA Mir will address a party workers’ convention at Chawalgam in Kulgam and will formally launch the campaign in Kashmir.

Reconnect With People

Through the campaign 'Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq' (our state, our right), the Congress aims to reconnect with people at the grassroots level and build a momentum for democratic rights of the region. It includes the demand for the restoration of full statehood.

NC Too For Statehood

The National Conference (NC), the rulling party, has also consistently called for the restoration of statehood. The NC has been advocating that the present Union Territory setup and dual administrative control are impeding governance and development.

Congress And NC: Alliance Partners

The Congress contested the last Assembly elections in alliance with the National Conference. But it did not join the Omar Abdullah-led government. The Party has made it clear that it would join the government only when full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is restored.

Farooq Abdullah On J&K Statement

National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said that getting full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir is the main issue of his party and it will continue till it is achieved. He said, "Getting statehood is an issue for us and it will never end.

Expectations Of People

We are hopeful, because we have been promised not only in Parliament but also in the Supreme Court." Farooq Abdullah said, "People have expectations from us and till we do not get statehood, we cannot live up to them. There is a need to start a new link of tourism here.

All efforts are being made to revive tourism." He stressed the need to take new steps to strengthen the tourism industry.
