Jammu: In view of the Meteorological Department's alert regarding heavy rains and landslides, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has postponed the pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi from October 5th to 7th.

Consequently, the Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, the Yatra route, the Adkunwari Temple complex, and Darshani Deori were deserted on Sunday.

Devotees arrived in Katra

However, 3,000 to 4,000 devotees who had arrived in Katra from across the country are still stranded in Katra, waiting for the Vaishno Devi Yatra to begin. On Saturday, the Shrine Board abruptly closed the registration center at 8 pm, two hours earlier than the usual 10 pm closing time.

Inconvenience traveling

This caused inconvenience to devotees traveling at night, who continued to request access to the temple at the entrance, Darshani Deori, but the Shrine Board refused to allow them to proceed to the temple. Ultimately, the pilgrims had to return to Katra.

The pilgrims staying in Katra are hopeful that the Shrine Board will allow them to continue their pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi. Late Saturday evening, the weather changed again, and clouds gathered in the sky, and it rained lightly until 8 a.m. on Sunday.

However, the weather cleared up after that, and the day remained sunny and cool. The pilgrims continued to appeal to the Shrine Board, stating that the weather was clear and they should be allowed to proceed towards the temple.
