Ranchi: At least 18 Kanwariyas were killed and over ten others injured after a bus collided with the truck near Jamuniya village in Deoghar on Tuesday. The injured have been admitted to the hospital, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
After performing Jalabhishek at Baba Baijnath Dham in Deoghar, the bus full of Kanwariyas was going to Basukinath Temple in Dumka to perform Jalabhishek. Suddenly the bus collided with a truck which was full of LPG cylinders near Jamuniya village under Mohanpur police station. The accident was so severe that resulted the death of 18 Kanwariyas. Over 10 were also injured.
Deoghar MP Nishikant Dubey confirmed the tragedy and took to social media X where he wrote, 'In my Lok Sabha constituency of Deoghar, during the Kanwar Yatra in the month of Shravan, 18 devotees lost their lives due to a bus and truck accident. May Baba Baidyanath Ji grant strength to their families to bear this grief.'

PM Modi Expresses Condolences
PM Modi also expressed his condolences on this accident. He wrote on X, 'The road accident in Deoghar, Jharkhand is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to the families of the devotees who lost their lives in this. May God give them the strength to bear this pain. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured.'

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also expressed grief over this shocker accident. He wrote on X, 'Very sad news has been received about the death of devotees travelling in a bus accident near Jamunia Chowk in Mohanpur block of Deoghar this morning. The district administration is providing medical facilities to the injured along with relief and rescue work. May Baba Baidyanath grant peace to the souls of the devotees who died in the accident and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this hour of grief.'

Many eyewitnesses said that it was a horrifying scene. The accident was so strong that the bus was reportedly torn apart.
The collision occurred when a bus carrying about 35 devotees en route to Deoghar for offering ‘jal’ at Baidyanath Dham was struck head-on by a truck transporting gas cylinders.
Top district officials, including members of the Police and civil administration, arrived at the site and later visited the hospitals to oversee rescue and medical efforts. The investigation is underway.
