

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of 12 advocates as Judges of the Allahabad High Court. Recently, 8 judicial officers were also elevated to the position of High Court Judges.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of 12 advocates as Judges of the Allahabad High Court.
This decision was taken during the Collegium meeting held on 1st September.
The names approved by the Collegium are:
1. Vivek Saran
2. Adnan Ahmad
3. Vivek Kumar Singh
4. Garima Prashad
5. Sudhanshu Chauhan
6. Abdhesh Kumar Chaudhary
7. Swarupama Chaturvedi
8. Jai Krishna Upadhyay
9. Siddharth Nandan
10. Kunal Ravi Singh
11. Indrajeet Shukla
12. Satya Veer Singh
The objective behind these appointments is to strengthen judicial functioning in the Allahabad High Court and to reduce the large number of pending cases.
The recommendations have now been sent to the Central Government for final approval. Once the formal notification is issued, the advocates will be sworn in as Judges of the High Court.
The Allahabad High Court is the largest High Court in the country, where the increasing number of pending cases and shortage of judges had created an urgent need for new appointments.
