Seventeen injured as Delhi-Lucknow bus overturns in Hardoi (Img: X)
Hardoi: Seventeen people were injured after a bus travelling from Delhi to Lucknow overturned on the Ganga Expressway in Hardoi district early Tuesday, police said.
The accident occurred at around 4:30 am in the Bilgram area. With the help of local residents, the injured passengers were rescued and taken to the Community Health Centre in Bilgram for treatment.
Two passengers who sustained serious injuries were referred to the district hospital for further treatment, while the remaining injured continued to receive medical care at the Community Health Centre.
The accident also triggered concern among the relatives and acquaintances of the passengers. Several people reached the hospital after learning about the incident to check on the condition of those injured.
Police reached the spot after being alerted, secured the overturned bus and regulated traffic on the expressway. Officials have also begun collecting information from the driver and passengers to establish how the accident occurred.
A preliminary assessment indicated that the bus went out of control before overturning. However, police said the exact cause would be determined only after the investigation is completed.
Officials said further action would be taken based on the findings of the probe.
