JK: 17-Year-Old PoJK Woman Apprehended Near LoC in Nowshera, Probe Underway

A 17-year-old woman from PoJK was apprehended near the LoC in Nowshera, Rajouri. She reportedly told the Army she had inadvertently crossed into the Indian side.

Srinagar: A 17-year-old woman from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) was apprehended by the Indian Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Lam area of Nowshera in Rajouri district, officials said.

Army Patrol Spots Movement Near LoC

According to officials, an Army patrol noticed the movement of a woman in the Lam sector close to the LoC. The patrol subsequently apprehended her and brought her into custody for verification.

The woman identified herself as Samiya Azeem, 17, and told the Army that she was the daughter of Mohd Azeem from Khuiretta in PoJK, officials said.

Woman Says She Crossed LoC Inadvertently

During preliminary questioning, the woman reportedly told Army personnel that she had inadvertently crossed over to the Indian side of the LoC.

She was later handed over to the local police for further questioning and investigation. Police are currently questioning her in Nowshera to establish the circumstances surrounding her presence near the LoC.

Investigation Underway

Officials said further details are awaited as the police continue their investigation. Authorities are also verifying the woman's identity and the circumstances in which she crossed into the Indian side.

The incident comes in the sensitive LoC area of Rajouri district, where security forces maintain heightened vigilance along the frontier.
