A 9-year-old award-winning student’s suicide in Jaipur raises serious concerns about school environment and accountability, with family seeking answers and police investigation underway.
Jaipur: Nine-year-old Amaira, a student at the prestigious Neerja Modi School in Jaipur, committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the school building on November 1st. This incident has shocked her family and the entire community.
The family is distraught, wondering why an innocent child would take such a drastic and final step. The police are investigating, but allegations of the school management's uncooperative attitude and attempts to conceal information have further complicated the matter.
Amaira's maternal uncle, Sahil Dev, shared the family's pain and confusion in a media interaction. He stated that Amaira was a talented child who had received an award just 10 days earlier. She was equally interested in studies, dance, and sports.

According to the family, she had no stress and was living a completely normal and happy life. He completely refuted rumors of any conflict between her parents, stating that they had a love marriage and their joint family had been very normal and happy for 13 years.
The family's main anger is directed at the school management and the investigation process. Uncle Sahil Dev says that they are not receiving any updates from the police. He believes that the answers are hidden in the school's classrooms.
He suspects that someone may have hurt or harassed Amaira, leading her to take this step. He has demanded a swift and transparent investigation from the police. Meanwhile, Amaira's father has leveled serious allegations against the school management and teachers.

The United Parents Association of Rajasthan has also criticized the school management in this matter. They state that such an incident happening to an innocent child during school hours directly holds the school administration responsible.
Not immediately informing the police, cleaning up the scene of the incident to destroy evidence, and not cooperating with the investigation are all legally punishable offenses. The association has termed the school's attitude reprehensible and criminal.
