Jammu: Security personnel carry out a search at a residence during a cordon and search operation (CASO) targeting suspected gangsters and drug peddlers as part of enhanced security arrangements ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, in the R.S. Pura area of Jammu on Thursday.

During the operation, security teams searched residential premises and checked suspected locations as part of a crackdown targeting gangsters, drug peddlers and other anti-social elements. The operation was conducted to ensure a safe and peaceful environment before the annual pilgrimage begins.

Officials said security has been strengthened across sensitive areas, with special focus on routes and locations connected to the yatra. Search operations, area domination exercises and surveillance measures are being carried out to prevent any possible security threat.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra draws thousands of pilgrims every year, making advance security preparedness a key priority for the administration and security agencies. Authorities have said that such operations will continue in the coming days to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
