New Delhi: The BJP is preparing a political counter-offensive against the Congress’s vote-theft campaign, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah scheduled to participate in foot marches in Hyderabad on November 2 and Karnal on November 5. The rival programmes come amid an escalating political confrontation over alleged voter deletions and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, putting electoral integrity and the two parties’ competing claims in the spotlight.

Congress vs BJP: Why the Electoral Roll Row Is Escalating

The political confrontation centres on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with Congress alleging irregularities and raising concerns about the deletion of voters’ names. The BJP, meanwhile, has defended the revision exercise and accused opposition parties of misleading the public about its purpose.

Congress is scheduled to hold its ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1. The BJP’s planned marches will take the opposing narrative to the streets in the days that follow, setting up a fresh round of political mobilisation around electoral integrity and the credibility of the voter-list revision process.

Hyderabad March: Telangana BJP Challenges Congress Over SIR

Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao announced that the party would organise a padyatra in Hyderabad on November 2 under the slogan ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’, meaning ‘Save Democracy, End Anarchy’. Amit Shah is scheduled to participate in the march.

Rao accused Congress of creating a misleading narrative around SIR and challenged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to visit his native village, Kondareddypalle, with him to examine the status of voter deletions. He also asked Congress ministers in the state to identify voters whose names had been removed and establish the reasons behind those deletions. These are political claims and challenges; the allegations themselves require assessment against official electoral records.

The exchange highlights a central question in the SIR debate: how can voters verify whether their names remain on the electoral rolls, and what procedures are available to correct omissions? For eligible citizens, checking their enrolment status and following the Election Commission’s prescribed correction and inclusion procedures remains important.

Karnal Padyatra on November 5: BJP Reviews Preparations

Amit Shah is also scheduled to participate in a BJP padyatra in Karnal, Haryana, on November 5. Haryana BJP president Archana Gupta has reviewed preparations, including the proposed route, coordination with party workers, security arrangements and other logistical requirements.

According to the reported schedule, the march will begin at 10 am from Sector 12 and conclude at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister Manohar Lal and other senior party leaders are also expected to attend.

The Karnal programme forms part of the BJP’s wider effort to counter opposition allegations concerning electoral roll revision and the Election Commission. The party’s campaign is intended to present its position directly to the public through marches, meetings and other outreach activities.
