New Delhi: A major plane accident was averted amid the continuous heavy rain in Mumbai. Due to the rain continuing since Sunday, flight operations at Mumbai airport are being hampered.
Meanwhile, Air India flight number AI-2744, which was coming from Kochi to Mumbai, slid on the runway while landing. It is being told that this flight was an Airbus A320 (VT-TYA), which landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) at 9:27 am. Due to the slippery runway during landing, the plane slid about 16-17 meters down from the main runway.
However, a major accident was averted due to the pilot's prudence and quick decisions. The plane was safely taken to the taxiway and then to the designated parking place. All passengers and crew members are safe and have been safely evacuated from the plane.
A statement issued by Air India said that Flight AI-2744 slipped during landing due to heavy rain, but all passengers are safe. The plane has been grounded for investigation for the time being. Air India also clarified that passenger safety is their top priority.

At the same time, Mumbai Airport Administration (CSMIA) has also confirmed the incident. Airport officials immediately activated the emergency protocol and took safety measures. The airport's emergency reaction team immediately reached the spot and controlled the situation. The plane was safely docked without any other damage.
After this incident, Mumbai Airport has also issued an important piece of advice for passengers. It has advised that, in view of the weather conditions, passengers should get information about their flight's timetable and possible delay from their airline before traveling. Also, traffic is likely to increase due to rain, so passengers have been advised to leave for the airport early.
This incident has once again proved how necessary quick decisions and efficient management are in emergency situations. People still have not forgotten the sinister Ahmedabad airplane crash of London-bound Flight 171, which killed 242 people on board the flight and 19 others on the ground, with only one survivor from the plane.
However, the preliminary investigations revealed that the crash happened due to the failure of fuel control switches, which has also given birth to another controversy, with experts claiming it's a conspiracy to put the whole blame on the captains. Fortunately, this time there was no loss of life, and all the passengers are safe.
