New Delhi: Congress National Spokesperson Pawan Khera appears to be facing legal trouble as teams from the Assam Police and Delhi Police reached his residence in Delhi on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, the police teams arrived to question Khera in connection with allegations he reportedly made against the wife of Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam.
Khera had earlier claimed that Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuyan holds three passports. Following the claim, Bhuyan filed a complaint against Khera.
Sources indicated that the police teams are gathering details and statements as part of the investigation. However, there has been no official statement yet from Khera or the police regarding the outcome of the questioning.
The incident comes amid an ongoing political tussle between Congress leaders and the Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
