Bank Holiday Today: Why are banks suddenly closed across the country? RBI shares details

New Delhi: If you are thinking of going to the bank today to finish some important work, then this news is very important for you. Today can be a bit troublesome for crores of people across the country because today, i.e., on June 14, the banks are closed. But the question arises, why are the banks closed on Saturday? Is there any special occasion, or is it just a holiday like a normal day?

Why are banks closed today?

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, according to the rules of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), there is a public holiday in banks on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Today is June 14, and it is the second Saturday of the month; that is why all private and government banks are closed across the country.

That is, any work related to the bank—whether it is related to opening an account, cash deposit, or transfer—will not be possible today. In such a situation, all of you should know this important information.

What should people do in such a situation?

Now the question arises, what should people do in such a situation? So there is no need to panic. In today’s digital age, banking services are not limited to bank branches only. Customers can avail 24×7 services through net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs. You can do many tasks like transactions, balance checks, transfers, and bill payments from home.

Keep this in mind

However, one thing you should keep in mind is that on holidays, the process of paper-based transactions like check clearance or drafts, etc., will be halted. Such tasks will now have to wait till Monday. Apart from this, there are many other days in the month of June when banks will remain closed.

Such as banks will remain closed on Sunday and Saturday holidays on 15, 22, 28, and 29 June, while banks will not open on the occasion of Rath Yatra in Odisha and Manipur on 27 June and on Remna Ni in Mizoram on 30 June.

The special thing is that the installment of ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ will also not come today due to the bank holiday. So if you have any important work related to the bank today, it would be better to postpone it till Monday.
