Bengaluru: The victory of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team, which won the title for the first time in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL), was being celebrated with great pomp in the whole city, but this celebration suddenly turned into mourning. 11 people died and 47 others were injured in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.

Cause of Stampede

Confirming this accident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that so far 11 people have died and 47 are injured. He said that all the injured are out of danger. The Chief Minister also said that the government had organized the gathering of about 50,000 people, but the number accidentally increased to about two to three lakhs.

It was not possible to control this crowd, due to which this accident happened.

Reason of Stampede

According to police sources, the main reason for the stampede was the confusion over the victory parade, free pass distribution, excessive crowd and limited seats in the stadium. It is said that cricket lovers of Bangalore had thronged the streets since Tuesday night to celebrate the victory of the RCB team.

On Wednesday, when the team was welcomed at the stadium, a large number of people had gathered at that time also. Meanwhile, as soon as people gathered outside the stadium, the crowd could not be controlled.

According to the police, during this time many people who did not have valid tickets to enter the stadium started trying to go inside with the ticket holders. When they were stopped, there was chaos. Many people fell while trying to climb the gates, due to which many were injured. This stampede became so horrific that it took the lives of many people.

Investigation Started

The police and administration have started investigating the cause of this accident. The forensic team has been called to the spot, and evidence is being collected from the spot. Besides, digital records like social media posts, mobile call details, etc., are also being scrutinized to find out the reason behind the gathering of the crowd and the real cause of the stampede.
