BJP General Secretary Anwar Khan accuses Pakistan-backed elements of attempting to create fear, disturb public order and destabilise the security environment in Jammu and Kashmir
Baramulla: BJP General Secretary Anwar Khan on Thursday strongly condemned the alleged threats issued by militant groups against Kashmiri Pandits, accusing Pakistan-backed elements of attempting to create fear, disturb public order and destabilise the security environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a Tiranga Rally in Baramulla ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, Khan asserted that India would not be deterred by threats, intimidation or acts of violence, adding that the country’s security apparatus possesses the capability to respond firmly to any challenge against its sovereignty and internal security.
Khan said that attempts to target Kashmiri Pandits or any other community through terror tactics and psychological intimidation would not succeed in weakening the democratic fabric of Jammu and Kashmir or the unity of the nation.
He alleged that Pakistan has continued to use terrorism, propaganda and fear-based tactics as tools to disrupt peace in the Union Territory. According to Khan, such attempts are aimed at creating social instability and disturbing the ongoing development and peace initiatives in the region.
The BJP leader maintained that India has the political will, military strength and security infrastructure required to counter threats from across the border. He emphasised that any attempt to challenge the country’s territorial integrity or threaten its citizens would invite a strong response under the framework of national security laws.
Speaking at the rally, Khan highlighted the significance of the Tricolour as a symbol of India’s sovereignty, constitutional values and collective identity. He said the national flag represents every citizen irrespective of religion, region, caste or community.
He stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have repeatedly demonstrated their faith in peace, democracy and national integration. According to him, residents of the Union Territory would not allow forces promoting violence and hatred to influence their future.
The Tiranga Rally witnessed participation from BJP leaders, party workers and local residents, with participants carrying the national flag and raising patriotic slogans as part of Independence Day-related programmes across Jammu and Kashmir.
Khan’s remarks came amid renewed attention over alleged threats directed towards Kashmiri Pandits, a community that has remained at the centre of security and political discussions in Jammu and Kashmir for decades.
He called for strict legal action against individuals involved in issuing threats, spreading terror propaganda or supporting activities aimed at disturbing communal harmony and public safety.
The BJP leader said that the fight against terrorism is linked not only to national security but also to protecting the dignity, rights and democratic freedoms of citizens. He added that violence and intimidation cannot derail Jammu and Kashmir’s path towards peace, stability and economic development.
Concluding his address, Khan said the message from Baramulla was that terrorism and threats would not determine the future of Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated that the Tricolour would continue to represent India’s unity, resilience and commitment to maintaining peace across the Union Territory.
