Varanasi: Babatpur Airport created a stir due to the rumor of a bomb in a plane. This unusual situation arose when an NRI passenger Nishant Yohanathan said that he had a bomb in his bag while traveling on an Indigo Airlines plane.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, on Saturday night, flight number 6E 499, which was to fly from Varanasi to Bangalore, was ready with 159 passengers. When the incident happened before 9:55 pm, the crew members immediately informed the airline. Taking immediate action, the airline took the plane to isolation and detained all the passengers at the airport. All necessary steps were taken keeping in mind the safety of the passengers.

Intensive interrogation of the passenger who spread the rumour

Amid the commotion, the security personnel took immediate action and stopped the passenger Nishant and questioned him thoroughly. However, no suspicious item was recovered from him during this time. Despite this, considering the seriousness of the situation, the IB-LAU (Intelligence Bureau - Local Intelligence Unit) team reached the spot and took the passenger with them for questioning.

Flight took off in the morning

The plane took off safely at 7:35 am. However, the passengers of the plane had to face troubles due to this unexpected development. The airport administration took the matter seriously and implemented appropriate security measures.

FIR registered against the passenger

Later, a Canadian passport was found in the possession of the passenger who was handed over to the Phulpur police. SHO of Phulpur said that the passenger has been brought to the police station where he is being questioned by IB-LU and other intelligence agencies. He also said that an FIR will be registered against the passenger.

Police and other security agencies believe that giving such false information is a serious crime and strict punishment should be given for it.

This incident of false rumour created panic at night, anxiety was seen among all the passengers stranded at the airport. However, security agencies are investigating the matter.
