New Delhi: Amid rising tensions in West Asia, US President Donald Trump held a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the evolving situation in the region.

The discussion focused on the geopolitical developments and their potential global impact, particularly on energy supplies and maritime security.

Focus on Strait of Hormuz

A key point of the conversation was the need to ensure the continued openness of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.

Nearly one-fifth of global crude oil shipments pass through this narrow waterway, making it a vital artery for international energy trade. Any disruption could trigger significant volatility in global markets and affect fuel-dependent economies like India.
