New Delhi: BRICS Summit 2026 entered its second day in New Delhi as leaders of the expanded grouping arrived at Bharat Mandapam for high-level discussions on global issues, economic cooperation and future challenges.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other leaders are participating in the summit.

Modi Set for Multiple Bilateral Meetings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold several bilateral meetings on the second day of the summit. The discussions are likely to focus on strengthening strategic partnerships, trade relations, energy cooperation and global challenges. The meetings come a day after India held key diplomatic engagements with several BRICS members during the summit.

New Delhi Declaration Takes Centre Stage

The leaders are expected to discuss the implementation of the New Delhi Declaration, a 140-point document adopted unanimously on the first day of the summit. The declaration covers issues including global governance reforms, terrorism, climate change, technology, trade and sustainable development.

Global South, AI and UN Reforms Among Key Issues

India has highlighted the need for greater representation of the Global South in international institutions. PM Modi also called for reforms in the United Nations Security Council and stronger participation of developing nations in shaping global rules. The summit is also focusing on artificial intelligence, digital cooperation and emerging technologies.

Security Tightened Across Delhi

Meanwhile, security arrangements remain strengthened across the national capital due to the movement of foreign leaders. Traffic restrictions have been imposed in several areas around Bharat Mandapam and other key routes.
