CM Omar Abdullah announces Rs 2 crore for J&K Ranji Trophy Champions
Srinagar: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah hosted a special dinner to honour the Union Territory’s Ranji Trophy–winning team, celebrating their historic achievement in Indian domestic cricket.
The Chief Minister welcomed the players at the event, which was attended by members of his Cabinet and senior government officials. To recognise their excellent performance, the team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 crore.
President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Mithun Manhas, was also present at the ceremony.
Congratulating the players, Abdullah praised their commitment, discipline, and perseverance. He said the team’s success has brought great pride to Jammu and Kashmir and encouraged the players to continue performing at the highest level and bringing further recognition to the region.
Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary; Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Ahmad Rana, Javid Ahmed Dar and Satish Sharma; Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Commissioner Secretary for Youth Services and Sports Shahid Iqbal Choudhary; the Director General of Youth Services and Sports, officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, the Secretary of the Sports Council, and other senior officers.
