New Delhi: India has achieved its biggest success so far in its diplomatic battle against Pakistan. After the objection raised by the delegation led by Shashi Tharoor, Colombia has withdrawn its statement in favour of Pakistan, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The Colombian government had expressed condolences on the deaths in Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, while Colombia had remained silent on the Pahalgam attack and the killing of the innocent civillians who were killed after asking their religion.
Now Colombia has withdrawn its statement in support of Pakistan and has also given full assurance of supporting India's anti-terrorism stand. The all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor presented India's stand in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.
Tharoor said, "We are disappointed with the reaction of the Colombian government. They expressed condolences on the deaths in Pakistan after Operation Sindoor, but did not show sympathy for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
We will tell our friends in Colombia that there can be no similarity between those who send terrorists and those who oppose them. We are just defending ourselves. If there is any misunderstanding, we have come here to clear it."
Shashi Tharoor held a meeting with Colombia's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Rosa Yoland. After the meeting, Tharoor told ANI that we are extremely reassured by the clarification we have received from the Colombian government.
The Deputy Minister has withdrawn the statement about which we had expressed concern. They fully understand our position on this matter. We also appreciate it. Tharoor wrote in his tweet, "Had a wonderful meeting with Colombia's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Rosa Yoland and her colleagues from the Asia Pacific region.
I explained India's view on recent events and expressed disappointment over Colombia's statement expressing condolences to Pakistan on May 8. The minister assured me that the statement has been withdrawn and also strongly supports us, properly understanding our position."
Shashi Tharoor is leading an all-party delegation to the US. After visiting Panama and Guyana, Tharoor and his delegation presented their side in Colombia on Thursday.
He said that India has a zero tolerance policy against terrorism and we will continue to follow it. The delegation has exposed Pakistan on the issue of terrorism and has told the whole world about India's strict policy against terrorism.
Even before this, the countries where Shashi Tharoor's delegation has visited have fully supported India. Those countries have echoed India's sentiments and said that India is not alone in fighting terrorism.
The whole world will unite with India and fight against terrorism. Tharoor told in many countries how terrorism is a face against humanity, which kills innocent people. Seven different delegations from India have been sent to various countries of the world to give information about Operation Sindoor and expose Pakistan.
These delegations went abroad and told how Pakistan carried out the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. How Pakistan is a terrorist-supporting country and how Pakistan is not relenting even after repeated explanations.
