New Delhi: Union Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday reiterated that the situation of Covid infection in the country is being continuously monitored and there is no need to panic.
According to the data of the ministry, the active cases of corona in the country have reached 1010 since May 19. Indian Council of Medical Research Director General Dr Rajiv Bahl has said that the situation of Covid infection in the country is being closely monitored and there is nothing to worry about at the moment.
Once again, the officials concerned have started becoming active due to the rapid growth of the new variant JN.1 of the corona virus across the country. All health care institutions have been asked to remain alert and instructions have been given to keep all necessary treatment facilities ready. Kerala has the highest number of active cases.
According to the latest data, Kerala is at the forefront with 430 active cases, followed by Maharashtra with 209 and Delhi with 104 cases. Apart from this, 83 active cases have been reported in Gujarat, 69 in Tamil Nadu, 47 in Karnataka, 15 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Rajasthan, 12 in West Bengal, nine in Puducherry, nine in Haryana, four in Andhra Pradesh, two in Madhya Pradesh and one each in Telangana, Goa and Chhattisgarh.
According to the ministry's data, six people have died of coronavirus so far. Three people have died in Maharashtra, two in Kerala and one patient has died in Karnataka due to this deadly virus.
Dr Bahl said that cases of COVID infection are increasing in the country, although there is nothing to worry about them. He said that all the agencies of the health care sector are closely monitoring the situation and immediate steps will be taken at the appropriate time.
He said that the severity of COVID infection is very low and people do not need to be hospitalized. He said that many types of vaccines are available in the country to deal with COVID infection. Suspected cases of COVID infection are being investigated across the country.
Now the question that people are repeatedly asking on social media is, "Can a lockdown be imposed?" Lockdown is not imposed just like that. The government takes this decision when the rate of deaths due to corona increases a lot.
That is, when there is a serious threat to people's lives due to the spread of corona, then markets and other things are closed for some time. Lockdown is the last resort, and before this, some mild restrictions are imposed and people are asked to be cautious.
