New Delhi: The investigation into the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi is progressing rapidly, and the layers of the terrorist module are being revealed. Investigators probing the terrorist module linked to Dr. Umar have found evidence of an organized internal structure, encrypted communication channels, and coordinated movement of weapons.
Security agencies have identified Dr. Umar as the driver of the car laden with explosives that exploded near the Red Fort Metro station on November 10.
According to sources, Umar formed a signal group using a special character name about three months ago. He added Muzammil, Adeel, Muzaffar, and Irfan to this encrypted communication platform, which investigators believe was used for internal coordination.
What did the investigation reveal?
A major clue emerged after a cache of weapons, including a Krinkov rifle and a pistol, was recovered from the car of Dr. Shaheen, a key suspect in the case. The investigation revealed that Umar purchased the weapons and handed them over to Irfan in 2024.
Sources stated that Dr. Shaheen had previously visited Mufti Irfan's room with Dr. Muzammil and seen the same weapons. It is also suspected that he contributed the most financially to the group's activities.
Who was tasked with recruiting Kashmiri youth?
The investigation has revealed a division of roles. Financial support for this module was primarily handled by three doctors, especially Muzammil.
The task of recruiting Kashmiri youth was assigned to Irfan, also known as Mufti, who allegedly brought in Arif Nisar Dar, also known as Sahil, and Yasir ul Ashraf, both of whom have now been arrested.
Sources stated that the investigation uncovered several instances of weapons-related activities. In October 2023, Dr. Adeel and Dr. Umar visited Irfan at Masjid Ali with a rifle in a bag and left after cleaning the barrel.
In November 2023, Adeel again arrived at Irfan's house with a rifle. Dr. Muzammil and Dr. Shaheen Shahid later joined in. They left the weapon with Irfan. Investigators reported that Adeel returned the next day and took the weapon.
What do officials say?
Officials said the investigation points to a coordinated network, involving financing, recruitment, and systematic weapon circulation, operating through encrypted platforms and trusted personal links.
