Delhi ITO Accident: Car Flies Over Divider, AAP-BJP MLAs Among 6 Injured

New Delhi: A major road accident took place in Delhi’s ITO area on Sunday night when a car jumped over a road divider and collided with an SUV coming from the opposite direction. Six people, including two MLAs, were injured in the crash.

The accident occurred around 9:30 pm near the PWD office under the IP Estate police station area. Police said all injured persons were taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, where their condition was reported to be stable.

Out-of-Control Car Crosses Divider, Hits Innova

According to police officials, a Swift car was travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO when it allegedly hit the divider. The impact caused the vehicle to break through the railing and enter the opposite carriageway.

The car then collided with an Innova SUV travelling from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar.

The Swift was being driven by 32-year-old Ashutosh Pandey, who was travelling with his wife and two minor children. The SUV involved in the collision was carrying Delhi Aam Aadmi Party MLA Anil Jha and Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Abhay Patil.

Two MLAs Among Injured

Police confirmed that both MLAs and other passengers suffered minor injuries in the accident. They were immediately shifted to LNJP Hospital for medical assistance.

The damaged vehicles were removed from the spot after the collision to restore traffic movement in the area.

Fire Department Called After CNG Leak Concern

Following the accident, the Delhi Fire Service also reached the spot after receiving information about a possible CNG leakage from one of the vehicles.

Officials carried out necessary safety checks and helped clear the accident site.

Police Begin Investigation

The Delhi Police has started a preliminary investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Officials are examining whether overspeeding, driver error or any other factor led to the vehicle losing control and crossing the divider.
