New Delhi: Delhi Metro commuters may face travel disruptions as Delhi Police has proposed restrictions at 57 metro stations in view of planned protests at Jantar Mantar and other locations in the New Delhi district on October 10.
In a letter dated October 8, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Transport Range, asked Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Vikas Kumar to issue necessary directions to concerned officials to prepare for the situation.
According to the letter, the entry and exit gates of the listed stations may be closed from 9 PM on October 9 and remain affected on October 10 until the situation normalises. The police have also proposed reducing the frequency of metro trains passing through these stations.
The letter cites the possibility of unruly crowd movement towards sensitive locations as the reason for the proposed measures.
