New Delhi: The Chief Justice of India (CJI) on Thursday assured lawyers that no adverse orders would be passed by the Supreme Court because of their inability to appear in court amid the closure of several Delhi Metro stations.
The assurance came after advocates informed the court that travel disruptions caused by the Delhi Metro restrictions had delayed their arrival at the Supreme Court. Responding to the concerns, the CJI observed that the court would wait before proceeding with matters.

Hearing submissions from members of the Bar, the Chief Justice said, "Let's wait until lunch. No adverse orders will be passed today on account of the non-appearance of lawyers."
The remark ensured that litigants would not face any prejudice merely because their counsel could not reach the court due to transport disruptions.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) suspended entry and exit at 16 metro stations from Thursday morning until further notice as security was tightened in central Delhi. While trains continued to pass through the affected stations, passengers were not allowed to enter or exit them.
The restrictions impacted thousands of commuters, including lawyers, litigants and court staff travelling to the Supreme Court and nearby government offices.
The metro closures came amid heightened security arrangements in the national capital following the ongoing CJP protest. Barricades were placed across key roads, and security personnel were deployed at several locations to maintain law and order.
The restrictions led to heavy traffic congestion and delays across central Delhi, affecting commuters heading to government offices, courts and other institutions.
