Delhi Police launches ‘Operation Aaghaat’; 285 arrested ahead of new year

Ahead of the New Year, Delhi Police launched ‘Operation Aaghaat 3.0’ to crack down on criminals. During this operation, 285 criminals were arrested, and a large quantity of illegal weapons, liquor, cannabis, and cash were seized.

New Delhi: Ahead of the new year, Delhi Police launched 'Operation Aaghaat 3.0' in the South-East district, cracking down on crime. The operation aimed to apprehend criminals and strengthen law and order. Police said that extensive action was taken under the Excise Act, NDPS Act, and Gambling Act during the campaign.

285 Criminals Arrested

Under the operation, 285 accused were arrested. This included 10 criminals involved in property crimes and 5 auto-lifters. Police stated that these arrests have strengthened crime control in the area and will prevent future incidents.

Action Taken Against 1,306 Individuals

As part of preventive measures, police detained 504 people and also apprehended 116 individuals with criminal tendencies. A total of 1,306 people were acted against. This ensured that the law and order situation remained secure and potential crimes were kept under control.

Large-Scale Seizures

During the operation, police recovered a large quantity of illegal materials. This included 21 country-made pistols, 20 live cartridges, and 27 knives. Additionally, 12,258 quarters of illicit liquor and 6.01 kg of cannabis were seized. In action against gambling activities, ₹2,30,990 in cash was recovered.

Vehicles and Mobile Phones Recovered

Police also seized 310 mobile phones, 231 two-wheelers, and one four-wheeler. This dealt a major blow to criminal networks and illegal activities. Police stated that this action was taken to ensure the safety and security of the general public.

DCP's Statement

DCP South-East Hemant Tiwari said that Operation Aaghat 3.0 aims to curb crime and strengthen the sense of security among the general public. He also stated that police action will continue consistently in the future.
