Delhi Police arrested three wanted criminals, including an alleged Asad gang leader, after a brief encounter in Usmanpur early morning. The suspects, wanted in a Meerut murder case, were shot in the leg during retaliatory firing and taken to hospital.

New Delhi: The sound of gunfire sparked panic in the Usmanpur area of Delhi on Monday morning. The gunfire erupted during a shootout between police and criminals. The Delhi Police Crime Branch team had received intelligence that the notorious Asad gang from Meerut was about to arrive in the area with its associates. Upon receiving the information, the police laid a cordon and a trap, and ordered the suspects to surrender as soon as they arrived.
Surrounded by police, the criminals suddenly opened fire. Police retaliated in self-defense, injuring three of the accused in the leg. During the encounter, a bullet grazed a sub-inspector, but he survived because he was wearing a bulletproof jacket. The injured criminals were immediately rushed to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.

Police investigation revealed that the three arrested criminals were wanted in a murder case in Meerut. It is being reported that the murder was committed due to a personal rivalry. Following the encounter, security has been increased in Usmanpur and surrounding areas. Police are investigating the entire matter thoroughly and are also probing the criminal network of the accused.
