Rain Havoc Across India: Delhi Under Alert, 4 States Face Flash Flood Threat

Delhi faces another spell of heavy rain as IMD issues a yellow alert. Waterlogging reported in several areas, while flash flood warnings are issued for Kerala, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

New Delhi: Another bout of heavy rains lashed the national capital city on Friday, following a yellow alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has stated that rains are expected to persist in the Delhi-NCR region. The latest downpour has led to waterlogging in various parts of the city, disrupting normal activities.

According to the weather department, the city will experience cloudiness along with light to moderate rainfall at various places. Also, there will be an occurrence of heavy rainfall at some places during the morning, with another bout of light rainfall expected in the evening and night.

Heavy Rain Continues in Delhi-NCR

Rainfall continued across Delhi and adjoining NCR regions on Thursday, bringing temporary relief from humid weather but creating challenges for commuters. Several low-lying areas reported water accumulation following intense showers.

The weather department has advised residents to remain cautious as further rainfall activity is expected during the day.

Wall Collapse at Vijay Nagar in Northwest Delhi Damages Vehicles

Apart from that, the heavy rain also resulted in a wall collapse case in Vijay Nagar in northwest Delhi.

As per the police, the wall of the old building collapsed because of incessant rainfall, which caused damage to many vehicles parked nearby. This took place in the area of Vijay Nagar Double Storey under Model Town police station jurisdiction.

Flash Flood Risk Warning Issued for Four States

The IMD has issued a low to moderate flash flood risk warning for several regions over the next 24 hours.

The warning covers parts of:

• Kerala and Mahe: Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki and Kottayam districts
• Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal: Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dindigul and Theni districts
• Himachal Pradesh: Shimla and Sirmaur districts
• Uttarakhand: Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts

Prediction of Heavy Rains in Several Regions of India

According to predictions made by the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in several parts of India during the next two or three days.

Rainfall is also expected to take place in northwestern parts of India, central India, eastern parts of India, and northeast India.

According to weather forecasters, rainfall will be normal or below normal during the first half of the week, while in the second half of the week it will be normal to above normal rainfall.

Weather Alert for Residents

Authorities have advised people in rain-affected areas to avoid waterlogged routes and remain updated with official weather advisories. With more showers expected, residents in vulnerable areas have been urged to take precautions against possible waterlogging and flash flood situations.
