New Delhi: Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, the monsoon has intensified across several parts of India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds in more than 10 states, including Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

Due to a developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal, weather activity is expected to remain intense for the next 3-4 days.

Central & Western India: Orange Alert in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan

The IMD has issued orange and yellow alerts for several districts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Areas including Rajgarh, Vidisha and Sehore in Madhya Pradesh may witness heavy rainfall within the next 24 hours.

Rajasthan is also likely to experience active monsoon conditions till August 13. However, weather conditions may gradually improve in western and eastern parts of the state from August 14-15.

Delhi-NCR & North India: Cloudy Weather with Possibility of Light Rain

The weather in Delhi-NCR is expected to remain pleasant between August 12 and August 15, with cloudy skies and chances of light to very light rainfall.

In Uttar Pradesh, several districts including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Meerut and Noida are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Lucknow may witness relatively clear weather conditions.

The hill states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have also been placed under heavy rainfall alerts due to increasing monsoon activity.

Eastern & Northeast India: Odisha and Bihar Under Rain Alert

Several districts of Bihar have been issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and heavy showers. More than 20 districts may experience strong winds and rainfall activity.

In Odisha, coastal regions are likely to witness heavy rainfall till August 16 due to a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea till August 14 due to the possibility of rough conditions and high waves.

IMD Weather Forecast: Next 72 Hours Crucial

The weather department has warned that the next 72 hours could bring intense rainfall activity in several states. Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert and follow local administration guidelines.
