The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on Wednesday in view of the Christmas celebrations on December 24th and 25th.
Delhi traffic police warn of road restrictions
New Delhi: Preparations are underway for grand Christmas celebrations in Delhi's churches. The Delhi Traffic Police is also prepared ahead of the Christmas festivities and is taking measures to prevent traffic congestion.
The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on Wednesday in view of the Christmas celebrations on December 24th and 25th.
It has informed the public about traffic changes and restrictions in some parts of South Delhi, particularly in the Saket area.
According to the advisory:
Due to the anticipated crowds, traffic changes will be implemented around Select Citywalk Mall, DLF Avenue Mall, and MGF Metropolitan Court Mall in Saket to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
This special traffic arrangement will be in effect from 2 PM on both days.
The restrictions will affect Press Enclave Road and several internal roads in Saket and Pushp Vihar.
Therefore, routes will be diverted:
To manage congestion, traffic changes will be implemented at major intersections, including the Sheikh Sarai traffic light on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, the Asian Market traffic light on Mehrauli-Badarpur (MB) Road, and the PTS Malviya Nagar traffic light on Sri Aurobindo Marg.
Under the traffic changes, all turns on the divider from Sheikh Sarai to Hauz Rani will be closed during the restricted hours. Heavy vehicles and DTC/cluster buses will not be allowed on both lanes of Press Enclave Road.
Additionally, DTC and cluster buses will not be allowed to proceed towards Pushp Vihar via the Asian Market traffic light on MB Road.
Suggested alternative routes to avoid inconvenience:
The traffic police have also suggested alternative routes to commuters to avoid inconvenience. The advisory advises commuters traveling from Chirag Delhi towards Qutub Minar to take the route via Khanpur T-point, MB Road, and Lado Sarai T-point.
Those traveling from the IIT flyover towards Sangam Vihar or Sainik Farms are advised to take the route via TB Hospital traffic light, Lado Sarai traffic light, MB Road, Chirag Delhi, and Khanpur traffic light.
