New Delhi: Heavy showers across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) late Monday night and early Tuesday morning brought welcome relief from the heat and humidity that had gripped the region over the past several days.

The rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, led to a noticeable drop in temperatures and created pleasant weather conditions.

Rain Lowers Temperature Across Delhi-NCR

Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in several parts of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and other neighbouring areas. Cloudy skies and intermittent drizzle continued through Tuesday morning, helping keep temperatures under control and offering residents a respite from the muggy weather.

The cooler conditions are expected to continue as more rainfall is likely over the next 24 hours.

IMD Predicts More Rain and Thunderstorms

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi-NCR is likely to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.

The weather agency said the prevailing conditions are expected to keep daytime temperatures below normal and reduce humidity levels across the region.

Waterlogging Disrupts Traffic in Several Areas

While the rainfall improved weather conditions, it also caused waterlogging in low-lying areas, affecting traffic movement in parts of Delhi-NCR. Commuters faced slow-moving traffic on several roads during the morning rush hour as vehicles navigated through waterlogged stretches.

Authorities are monitoring the situation and have advised commuters to plan their travel accordingly if rainfall continues.

With the monsoon remaining active over north India, residents can expect cloudy skies and intermittent showers over the coming days, bringing continued relief from the summer heat while also increasing the possibility of traffic disruptions in vulnerable areas.
