Delhi Weather Today: National Capital Wakes Up Under Cloudy Skies, IMD Predicts Showers Next Week

New Delhi: Residents in National Capital may get relief from the ongoing heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain and drizzle in the national capital from September 1.

The weather department said Delhi received more than normal rainfall in August, while cloudy conditions are expected to continue in the coming days.

Delhi Weather Today: Cloudy Sky, Temperature Around 36°C

The national capital witnessed partly cloudy weather on Sunday. According to the IMD forecast, Delhi’s maximum temperature is expected to remain around 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may stay near 26 degrees Celsius.

No weather warning has been issued for the city on Sunday and Monday. The weather is likely to remain warm with partly cloudy skies during this period.

Rain Likely From September 1

The weather pattern is expected to change from September 1, when the IMD has predicted generally cloudy skies along with light rain or drizzle in Delhi.

The maximum temperature may fall to around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26 degrees Celsius. Light rainfall activity is also likely to continue on September 2 and 3, with temperatures hovering around 33 degrees Celsius during the day.

Delhi Air Quality Remains Moderate

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the moderate category. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the city recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 130 on Saturday evening.

At Safdarjung, Delhi’s main weather station, the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.7 degrees Celsius, which was 1.2 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature settled at 35.5 degrees Celsius. With rain expected next week, Delhi residents may see some relief from the humidity and rising temperatures.
