New Delhi: Rainfall in several parts of Delhi during the early hours of Sunday brought relief from humid weather, turning the morning pleasant for residents. IMD has issued a yellow alert for light rainfall across the national capital.
Delhi received around 1 mm of rainfall between 8:30 pm on Saturday and 8:30 am on Sunday, according to IMD data.
Light Rain and Mist Recorded in Delhi
The weather department reported light rainfall in isolated parts of the city, while the Safdarjung area witnessed mist with the temperature recorded at around 27°C at 8 am.
The Ridge area also experienced light thunderstorm activity along with rain and mist, with temperatures around 26°C at 7 am, according to IMD observations.
Over the last 24 hours, Delhi witnessed very light to light rainfall at several locations, while isolated areas received moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The minimum temperature across the capital remained between 23°C and 26°C, while maximum temperatures settled around 34°C to 35°C.
Pusa Records Highest Rainfall in Delhi Region
As per IMD data recorded until 8:30 am, the Pusa weather station recorded the highest cumulative rainfall of 16.5 mm.
Meanwhile, the Ridge area recorded 0.2 mm rainfall, while Faridabad received around 1 mm rainfall during the same period.
IMD Predicts Rainfall Across Several States
The IMD has predicted continued monsoon activity across several parts of the country. Very heavy rainfall was recorded in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall was also reported in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam and Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
Heavy Rain Alert for Uttarakhand, Bihar and Other States
According to the weather department, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Uttarakhand from August 22 to August 28. During the same period, fairly widespread rainfall is likely over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. The IMD has also forecast rainfall activity in Jharkhand from August 23 to 28 and Bihar from August 24 to 26.
The weather agency has advised residents to remain alert as thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rainfall may occur in several regions during the coming days.
