New Delhi: Muslims across the country are celebrating Bakrid, also known as Eid al-Adha, today on Saturday with religious fervour and devotion, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The celebrations began with special congregational prayers at Mosques and Eidgahs as people gathered in large numbers to mark the sacred festival.

Festival Of Sacrifice

Eid al-Adha, or the “Festival of Sacrifice,” honours the unwavering faith and obedience of Prophet Abraham, who was willing to sacrifice his son as an act of submission to God.

President Greetings

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha.

The President of India in a post on X said, "On the auspicious occasion of Eid-uz-Zuha. I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all my countrymen, especially to my Muslim brothers and sisters.

The festival highlights the importance of sacrifice, faith and many noble ideals. On the auspicious occasion, let us all take a pledge to work with a spirit of dedication for the society and the country.'

Vice-President Greets People

The Vice-President said on X, "Warm greetings to all citizens on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zuha,"

He said, "Id-ul-Zuha reminds us of the power of sacrifice and the blessing of generosity. The values of selflessness and service that Id-ul-Zuha upholds are timeless virtues that enrich our democratic fabric and strengthen the bonds of our diverse society.May this occasion inspire us to come together in a shared spirit of unity and work together to build a just, peaceful, and equitable nation."

Prime Minister Greetings

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister greeted the nation in a post on X saying, "Best wishes on Eid ul-Adha. May this occasion inspire harmony and strengthen the fabric of peace in our society. Wishing everyone good health and prosperity."

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha.

On his social media handle X, Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Eid al-Adha celebrates the noble values of selfless sacrifice, trust, and forgiveness. As we celebrate this joyous occasion, may we all unite to foster stronger fraternity and work towards a peaceful, harmonious, and just society. Eid Mubarak!"

Rahul Gandhi, in his post, said, "Eid Mubarak to everyone! May love and understanding fill our hearts and unite us all."
