New Delhi: Acharya Shri Ramchandra Das Ji Maharaj has unveiled an ambitious spiritual initiative to involve more than 11 crore people in reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, saying the mission seeks to awaken the strength, courage and capabilities of India’s youth.
Speaking to Dynamite News Editor-in-Chief Manoj Tibrewal Akash, the Acharya said the initiative was being carried forward by the Ramananda Mission under the guidance and inspiration of Pujya Gurudev.
He said Hanumanji was regarded as a symbol of strength, wisdom, knowledge and courage, and that spiritual practice could help young people develop inner strength and positive thinking.
“One year ago, Pujya Gurudev said that if you want to awaken the youthful power of India, then you will have to take the refuge of Hanumanji.”
Describing the significance of Hanumanji, he said: “Today, Hanumanji Maharaj is the God of strength, wisdom, knowledge, wisdom and courage. He is the God who cleanses the impurities of the inner world and awakens the light of knowledge.”
The Acharya said the Ramananda Mission was seeking to take the initiative to a large number of people across the country.
“So for him, through the youthful power of the whole country, Ramananda Mission is doing an initiative of reading Hanuman Chalisa for more than 11 crore people.”
He said the mission was not seeking financial assistance from people, but their participation in the spiritual exercise.
“We do not need any financial support from the whole country. We do not need anything. We need the refuge of Hanuman Chalisa with 11 crore Hanuman Chalisa.”
Outlining the planned programmes, Acharya Ramchandra Das Ji Maharaj said daily Hanuman Chalisa recitations involving 5,000 students would be held from October 12 to October 27. He also said 21,000 youths would participate in Hanuman Chalisa recitation at Talkatora Stadium on February 2, while another programme involving 21,000 youths was scheduled in Kolkata on November 17.
He added that five lakh Hanuman Chalisa recitations would be part of the broader initiative.
Explaining the thinking behind the campaign, the Acharya said India had historically drawn on the energy and leadership of its youth to spread knowledge.
“When the world needed education, this great ascetic of India, Swami Vivekananda, went to the world and explained Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. So, India was the source of knowledge and that knowledge has always been led by the youths.”
He expressed concern that young people could lose direction without proper guidance and said the initiative was intended to help them channel their energy towards constructive purposes.
“And so, to awaken the strength and capability of the youths of the country, according to the determination and thoughts of Pujya Gurudev, if we did not get the right guidance, we would have been standing in the same crowd, abusing the country, abusing the country's Prime Minister, abusing Bhagwan Shri Ram. But no, because we got the right guidance, we did not go astray.”
He said the mission wanted to demonstrate that young people could come together around national, cultural and spiritual values.
“We will show when people will sit in the number of lakhs and worship Lord Hanuman.”
Addressing young people, the Acharya also stressed the importance of protecting themselves from negative influences and keeping their thoughts pure.
He said, “always keep your thoughts pure.”
He also urged the youth to use their abilities for the country’s development rather than seeking short-term popularity.
“Put your efforts in the development of the country. Only then, I feel that this youth will be successful.”
He concluded by saying that India’s energetic and intelligent youth could play a major role in the country’s future.
