Srinagar: A fresh communication allegedly issued by the United Liberation Council (ULC) has triggered security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir after the letter circulated on social media with threatening and inflammatory remarks targeting Kashmiri Pandits who migrated from the Valley.
The letter, reportedly sent on August 23, also mentions government employees and individuals accused of being sympathetic towards the RSS or the government. Security agencies are examining the authenticity of the communication and investigating its origin.
According to reports, the message claims that certain individuals are monitoring the activities of specific people. It allegedly refers to those who have moved out of the Valley in derogatory terms, creating fresh concerns among members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
The development has raised anxiety, particularly among Kashmiri Pandit government employees and their families who continue to live and work in Jammu and Kashmir.
This is not the first such incident reported this month. Earlier, a similar threat letter allegedly linked to ULC targeted six Kashmiri Pandit government employees and reportedly contained their personal details, including mobile numbers.
Following that incident, police began investigating the credibility of the letter and increased security measures around members of the community.
Reports have previously suggested links between ULC and militant networks, including claims of it being a proxy outfit of Lashkar-e-Taiba. However, investigating agencies are yet to establish the authenticity and source of the latest communication.
Authorities have urged people to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. Security officials are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any attempt to disturb peace or create communal tension in the Valley.
