New Delhi: In the 134th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted a wide range of themes including social service, water conservation, sports achievements, heatwave precautions, and India’s rich diversity of mango varieties.
The Prime Minister urged citizens to actively participate in social initiatives and support individuals working for the betterment of society. He said that people engaged in selfless service should be recognised and their efforts should inspire others to contribute to nation-building.
Focus on Social Participation
PM Modi encouraged greater public involvement in meaningful social causes, stressing that stories of community service can strengthen society and motivate collective progress.
Celebration of India’s Mango Diversity
He also spoke about India’s diverse mango varieties, noting the unique identity of fruits such as Maharashtra and Konkan’s ‘Hapus’ (Alphonso), Gujarat’s ‘Kesar’, Uttar Pradesh’s ‘Dasheri’, and the ‘Langda’ variety from the Kashi region. He praised farmers for their role in boosting the agricultural economy.
Heatwave Advisory and Traditional Drinks
Amid intense summer conditions across parts of the country, the Prime Minister advised people to stay hydrated, avoid excessive exposure to the sun, and follow government-issued heat safety guidelines.
He also highlighted India’s traditional cooling beverages, including Aam Panna, Lassi, Chhach, Sattu Sharbat, Kokum Sharbat, Solkadhi, Panakam, Neer Mor, and Sambharam, noting that these drinks reflect both cultural diversity and practical wisdom in dealing with heat.
Water Conservation and Sports Achievements
The Prime Minister praised community-led efforts to restore and conserve water bodies such as rivers, ponds, and wells, saying such initiatives strengthen public participation and environmental responsibility.
He also congratulated athletes for record-breaking performances at the National Senior Athletics Championships in Ranchi, mentioning names such as Gurindervir Singh, Vishal TK, Tejaswin Shankar, Dev Meena, Kuldeep Kumar, and Animesh Kujur for their achievements.
Message of Collective Responsibility
PM Modi concluded by emphasising that citizens contributing to social work, environmental protection, agriculture, and sports are playing a vital role in India’s development, reinforcing the vision of collective nation-building and cultural unity.
